Should I handle Mold Myself?

4/24/2018 (Permalink)

Mold can be sneaky. Make sure if you find mold, that you determine its source too!

Nobody wants to deal with mold problems, but once you see mold in your house, you need to take care of it, immediately. Keep in mind, before you can do anything yourself, you should test the mold.

There are various kinds of molds, from white mold to black mold, they can bring any kind of bacterias and illnesses into your house, which is why you need to get it tested and see what you’re dealing with.

If the test shows the problem isn’t that bad (most of the cases aren’t), you can clean it up yourself. You should know, however, this is a long process that requires sealing up the whole area of your home, special gear, and deep cleaning.

Once all the cleaning is done, look for the original cause of the mold and repair it. Remember, most molds grow in humid, moist places, so keep an eye for any water leaks, broken pipes or places with unwanted condensation.

Last, but not least, test for mold again. Keep in mind bacterias could still be around, the same as mold dust, and the only way to really know the mold is gone is to get your house tested again. In order to keep your family safe and healthy, call in the professionals to handle all of your mold needs. We can provide free inspections, estimates, and work with your insurance providers to complete the work!
