Although preventing a fire should always be a priority, sometimes accidents happen and we still need to be prepared to run away from the fire, the ashes and the smoke. Lucky, preparing for such an event is easier than you think.
- Have Smoke alarms set. These alarms can detect fire pretty quickly and go off the second they sense smoke, potentially saving your life. Install them all around the house, not just near the kitchen.
- Have a fire extinguisher ready at all times to disperse smoke and put down the fire, especially near the kitchen area, since most accidents like these are kitchen fires.
- Make sure you have an escape route. During the fires, the ashes and smoke can be pretty deceiving, so make sure you know your way out.
- Learn how to stop, drop, and roll. This simple technique can not only stop your clothes from burning, but it can stop the fire overall and avoid a bad burn.
5.Learn how to move by crawling on the floor and avoiding all the smoke floating around. This particular one can potentially gain you more time and help you escape quickly.
Being prepared for a fire is all about planning ahead and controlling yourself in the situation. Fire and smoke can be terrifying, but being prepared and knowing what to do could save your life.
